By Lomphande Muzumi

7,692 civil servants countrywide illegally participated on the farmer input support programme –FISP- as beneficiaries in the 2019-2020 farming season.
Smart Zambia national coordinator, Dr Martin Mtonga has revealed that the names of the civil servants were detected by the Zambia integrated agricultural management information system –ZIAMIS- following several reports of malpractice in the implementation of the FISP.

In an interview with phoenix news, Dr Mtonga said the affected civil servants will be disciplined and that the K400 deposit money paid will not be refunded.
Dr Mtonga has explained that the verification process is still on going to ensure no civil servant benefits from the farmer support input programme at the expense of the intended beneficiaries.

Government is targeting 1 million farmers across the country for the 2019/2020 farmer input supply programme -FISP-.
