Obrey Chirwa offers apology to Micho, FAZ, and the fans

Tanzania based national team forward Obrey Chola Chirwa has apologized for failing to turn up following a national team call up from head coach Milutin Sredojevic.

Chirwa who turns out for Azam FC missed his flight together with Simba SC midfielder Clatous Chota Chama and the duo was later dropped by Micho. Chirwa took to Instagram to explain his side of the story.

According to the former YANGA striker, there was a delay in acquiring the COVID19 certificate so he could not travel and missed his flight. Chirwa went on to promise to do better the next time a call up is extended to him.

FULL APOLOGY:

After reflecting on what transpired, I express my apologies to the Nation, FA, Zambia National Team, Coach Micho, and the Technical Team. I know have disappointed not only the coach and fans but also myself.

I was supposed to have traveled to Zambia on the 5th October a day after club duty with AZAM but sadly due to the delay in acquiring the COVID19 certificate I could not travel and as thus missed my 3 AM flight.

I understand that my position as a professional footballer comes with the responsibility of being a role model and therefore I would like to apologize wholeheartedly once again to the entire Nation, FAZ, Coach Micho, Technical Bench as well as the fans.

Lastly, l would love to thank the Coach for the call-up. l refuse to let this be anything more than a bump in the road, l am confident l will do better next time.
