The National Union of Public and Private Educators of Zambia -NUPPEZ- has pledged to support the new government under President elect Hakainde Hichilema on new policies especially in the education sector.

Speaking during a media briefing in Lusaka today, NUPPEZ President Victor Muyumba says the Union remains hopeful that the new administration will further improve conditions of service for civil servants.

Mr. Muyumba said the Patriotic front-PF -Government under President Edgar Lungu said the Union will work with the government of the day in creating an enabling environment for teachers to work to the best of their abilities.

He further disclosed that the union will continue to engage the new government on various issues that affect the teaching fraternity.

And Mr. Muyumba has warned and caution teachers who have started harassing others based on perceived political affiliation to desist from the act.

Meanwhile, Mr. Muyumba has congratulated President elect Hichilema for the resounding victory and Outgoing President Edgar Lungu for a peaceful transition of power.
