Numba explains Kelvin Mubanga substitution as Chambeshi toasts clean sheet

Kitwe giants, Nkana on Saturday, beat defending Champions, ZESCO United in a week 7 encounter, with Jacob Ngulube scoring the only goal of the match.

Coach Beston Chambeshi and his Boys were aiming for a win from kick-off having had one draw and two losses in the last three games before yesterday.

Zega Mambo gave nkana a good run for their points, but Chambeshi is happy the defense kept a clean sheet.

“Today (Saturday) we wanted a win, and for sure we have collected the three points, although it wasn’t an easy game because zesco gave us a good fight,” Chambeshi told the ZamFoot Crew after the match.

“I am happy that the defense and the goalkeeper kept a clean sheet.”

With the fans returning to the stadium after such a long time, Quicksilver was happy with the support the team was given.

“Winning was the gift we gave to the supporters, they came in at the right time when the team is now fighting for points and we happy they came to support us,” he said.

Meanwhile, Zesco United coach Numba Mumamba was left disappointed with the results, despite the hard work.

“We are very disappointed with the results because it’s something that we didn’t expect, we controlled the game and created so many chances, which could have made a difference but unfortunately we were not clinical at goal,” he said.

“Otherwise am happy with the team, we did well, but we need to work on our finishing.”

Numba refused to connect the defending Champions’ one nil loss at Nkana Stadium to fatigue saying they (ZESCO United) have a big squad.

“We have a big squad which can play a congested fixture, so the element of fatigue doesn’t come in,” Numba said.

“If we were clinical at goal, we could have gone back home, with 3or even 4 goals, but unfortunately we were poor at finishing, and we only have ourselves to blame.”

kelvin Mubanga Kampamba, who seemingly had a bad day at the office was substituted in the first half of the game for being too ‘casual’ and not being so helpful to the team

“Kelvin wasn’t himself, he was too casual and made so many breakdowns and didn’t help the team in defending,” he said.

“In football, we are supposed to work together, when we have the ball and when we lose possession, we still have to work together, and when we lost possession he wasn’t being helpful and hence the change.”

Zesco United’s next take on log leaders, Green Buffaloes in a week 8 fixture while Nkana takes on kansanshi Dynamos on Saturday, October, 23rd.
