Nkwazi close in on Chiyangi as Albert Mphande waits on standby
Aggrey Chiyangi is in discussions with Nkwazi over a deal to take over as head coach at Edwin Imboela Stadium, the ZamFoot Crew understands.
The Zambia Police outfit went into the market for a coach following the departure of Dennis Makinka to Nkana as Ian Bakala’s assistant.
Since then Nkwazi have also being linked with move for Albert Mphande.
Reservations from the players has caused management to turn their attention to Chiyangi.
Chiyangi has been out of work to close to 15 months.
He is expected to be joined by Rotson Kilambe on the technical bench.
Chiyangi started his coaching career at Chambishi and led them to the 2007 Barclays Cup final against Zesco United.
He enjoyed a successful spell at Green Eagles.
Chiyangi was sacked by Nchanga Rangers in May 2023 after a 4 months spell.
Chiyangi has also coached Zanaco.
On the international scene, he led Zambia to the 2019 Cosafa triumph.
As a player, he won multiple titles at boyhood club Power Dynamos including the Mandela Cup.
He played in the 1994 African Cup of Nations final against Nigeria.
