Nkhuwa Orders Quarantine of Kobil Depot

Energy Minister Mathew Nkhuwa  has directed the Energy Regulation Board to quarantine the petrol tank at Kobil depot pending re-certification.This  follows recent complaints by motorists of alleged contamination of fuel in Southern Province.Mr. Nkhuwa   has also directed all  filling stations in Kalomo and Livingstone  to pump out the contaminated fuel  and ensure the tanks are cleaned and replenished  with certified products.He urged affected motorists to engage filling stations where they bought the fuel with proof of purchase for compensation.Mr. Nkhuwa  says  ERB  will summon all the affected licensees and take  appropriate action which may include fines or suspension of license among other measures.He said  this in Ministerial statement  made in Parliament .
