NKANDU CALLS FOR SOCIAL CHANGE

Government says it will device various mechanisms aimed at transforming the country into global powerhouse for social change through the use of sport.

Youth Sport and Arts Minister, ELVIS NKANDU says Sport is a powerful tool that can be used to transform minds, champion change in society and attain sustainable development.

NKANDU says the Ministry will use Sport to champion vices such as gender based violence and other programs bordering on sexual reproductive health among the youth.

NKANDU was speaking when he launched the Coaching Boys into Men -CBIM-instructors’ manual in Lusaka yesterday.

He said it is programs like the coaching boys into men that Zambia can address vices that have had a negative impact on society especially on women and girls.

And the Minister has noted that the launched document that was drafted in collaboration with other stakeholders to be used by all the national sports associations in the country, will be put to good use so that the country can see a reduction in Gender base
violence.

And, Zambia Center for Communication programmes Executive Director JOHANS MTONGO said the goal the of -CBIM project is strengthen the environment for all young Zambians and equip them with information issues bordering on gender.

MTONGO said it’s for this reason that the program was integrated with sport so that more youth are integrated.

He said since inception last year over 1-thousand coaches and over 1-hundred and 13 thousand boys have been trained and graduated.
