Nkana to face TP Mazembe on Mazembe Day
NKANA this afternoon left for Lubumbashi in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where they will battle it out against TP Mazembe on the 2024 Mazembe Day celebration scheduled for tomorrow Thursday, September 5.
The club took to social media to announce the development.
First Assistant Coach Dennis Makinka will use this encounter as a preparatory match before they Face NAPSA Stars in the local league.
Ahead of this match against the Congolese giants, Nkana lost 1-0 at home to Zesco United in a week four match played in Wusakile.
The Kitwe giants are currently on 16th place on the MTN Super League log table having registered two draws and one loss.
Meanwhile, Mazembe aims to utilise this inaugural celebration to unveil their new squad, jerseys, and technical staff to their ardent supporters.
The last time Kalampa emerged victorious against Mazembe was in Lubumbashi back in 2014, securing a memorable 3-2 win with goals from midfielders Claude Bwalya, Lottie Nyimbili, and Shadreck Musonda.
Currently holding 39 titles, Mazembe stands as the most successful club in DRC. Additionally, the club has clinched five CAF Champions League crowns, two CAF Confederation Cup titles, one African Cup Winners’ Cup title (prior to its transformation into the CAF Confederation Cup), and three CAF Super Cup triumphs.
