Nkana and Lumwana Radiants record wins in rescheduled games

Nkana came from a goal down to beat Red Arrows Football club and move further away from the relegation zone.

Nkana welcomed The Airmen this afternoon at Nkana Stadium in a rescheduled week eight encounter, looking to secure their first win under Kelvin Kaindu. Nkana were the first to threaten just two minutes into the match as Diamond Chikwekwe found space on the right and brought in a delicious ball but both Ronald Kampamba and Obed Masumbuko failed to make a meaningful connection as the ball went begging.

Prosper Chilufya was gifted with a good chance in the 8th minute but his effort hit the side netting. Three minutes later Nkana had a chance to go ahead but Simon Mulenga headed the ball right into Ken Mumba’s hands, Mulenga had another chance a few minutes later and again his shot was straight at Ken Mumba who collected with easy.

Arrows finally took the lead in the 30th minute, Francis Simwanza with what looked like a cross beating, Talbert Shumba who was way off his line, 1-0 in favor of the Airmen. Arrows thought they had a second five minutes later as James Chamanga’s powerful header went past Shumba but the 2012 AFCON winner was judged to have been offside.

Nkana’s best chance of the first half fell to Ronald ‘Sate-Sate’ Kampamba but the former Wadi Degla striker failed to even hit the target from close range.

Nkana were however back on level terms three minutes into the second half, Masumbuko produced a beautiful finish from the edge of the box finishing off a beautiful build-up goal from Nkana, arguably their best link up if the match s far.

Red Arrows were almost back in the lead immediately but Chamanga failed to connect with a cross from the right. Diamond Chikwekwe found the back of the net in the 51st minute but the flag was already up so it did on t count.

Chiluya was again through on goal in the 62nd minute after starting a move deep in midfield but his effort agonizingly wide off Shumba’s goal.

Nkana finally got their second in the 77th minute after Elvis Bissong deflected Chikwekwe’s shot into his net. Arrows tried to push for an equalizer while Nkana pushed for a third goal but neither side was successful, 2-1 the match ended.

The win takes Nkana to 11th place on the log with 14 points while Arrows remains stuck in 9th place with 15 points.
