With less than 48hours to go before the Zambia Under 17 women team kicks off their campaign to defend the COSAFA title at the AUSC Region five games in Malawi nine players and three officials are still marooned in Lusaka.

The team was initially scheduled to leave on Sunday evening via a chartered plane but yet again the Government failed to secure one.

The first failed charter plane incident was for the Chipolopolo ahead of their Ivory Coast qualifer.

With the unavailability of the charter plane Government are now sweating to secure commercial flights for them.

Coach Noami Phiri’s lasses the have their offical training scheduled for tomorrow 12:30 but the 12 member team that left this afternoon are only scheduled to arrive at 13:00hours.

According to sources close to the development six members of the travelled via Ethiopian airways while six travelled via South African airways and would be laying over in the respective countries.

“Today only 12 members of the team have managed to go which includes players and officals while nine players remained behind and are still stuck in Lusaka. It is not yet known when and what time they will travel.

“sadly the team that left can not form a starting XI and the majority of the key players including the captain have remained behind ,”the source said .

Zambia takes on Botswana on Thursday 12:00 hours and would be hoping the rest of the contigent arrive in Malawi.

Government has remained tight lipped on the development and where today in a closed door meeting trying to resolve their fracas.

Apart from football 11 other sports disciplines would be participating in the AUSC Region 5games with over 200 athletes still waiting on travel.
