January 22, 2019January 22, 201951

Ngucha Energy Corporation Limited has sued Roan Member of Parliament Chishimba Kambwili for defamation.
The firm alleges that Mr. Kambwili issued a calculated malicious statement suggesting that the firm is owned by President Edgar Lungu.
Ngucha says it has suffered losses as a result of the statement that was issued by Mr. Kambwili.
The Lusaka High Court has further been told that the defendant did not bother to check the records at PACRA in order to get the correct data regarding the true owners of the firm.
According to the documents filed in the High Court, Ngucha has argued that it started operating in 2010 before President Lungu was elected as a member of parliament.
The firm has pleaded with the High Court to order Mr Kambwili to apologise and also put that apology in both the print and electronic media.
In addition to this, the court has further been asked to order the defendant to pay 185 million United states dollars in damages.
Ngucha also wants an injunction restraining Mr Kambwili from issuing further defamatory statements against the firm.
This is contained in an affidavit filed in the Lusaka High Court.
