NFRA TOLD TO COLLECT K2BN IN TOLLS

Finance Minister Margaret Mwanakatwe has challenged the National Road Fund Agency -NRFA- to collect two billion Kwacha revenue from Toll Plazas this year.
This is against NFRA’s projection to collect one billion Kwacha revenue.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe says the contributions of toll fees to the maintenance of roads in the country will be enhanced if NFRA collects more money this year.

She was speaking to Journalists in Chibombo District today after touring the Katuba Toll Plaza.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe was elated that as at 09:00 hours today 48 thousand Kwacha Toll Fees’ had been collected from the Katuba Toll Plaza.
And in a separate interview, NFRA Chief Executive Officer Wallace Mumba said the Agency has a tight mechanism to ensure accountability in the collection of toll fees.
Mr. Mumba said the collection of toll fees is computerized and linked to the central system in real time.
Meanwhile NFRA Board Chairperson Christabel Banda said the road fund agency is committed to engaging all stakeholders in its quest to roll out more Toll Gates in various parts of the country.
Ms Banda was reacting to allegations that traditional leaders in some parts of the country resist the construction of Toll Gates in their areas.
