A team from the National Council for Construction -NCC- in Lusaka has expressed satisfaction with the scope of works done at Solwezi’s Independence stadium.

The team, led by NCC Executive Director PAUL MAKASA says the inspection was undertaken following social media reports of alleged poor works at the stadium.

Professor MAKASA has observed that a complete rehabilitation of the stadium would gobble over $30m, contrary to what has been portrayed on social media that the $300,000 allocated by FIFA to the Football Association of Zambia was enough for the works.

He says the scope of works given to FAZ was only for piecemeal works like the playing surface, changing rooms and terraces.

Professor MAKASA is satisfied with the quality of works on the playing surface as well as other areas.

He has however recommended a few touchups that the contractor, GNM Projects Limited, needs to work on, such as maintenance and putting up rumps to accommodate wheelchair users.

Solwezi’s Independence stadium is the home ground for FAZ Super League side Kansanshi Dynamos.

Social media has recently been awash with reports of poor construction works at the stadium.
