The National Heart Hospital has started receiving patients from other countries such as Zimbabwe and Malawi following advanced medical procedures being done at the facility.

Hospital Senior Medical Superintendent CHABWELA SHUMBA says the facility has experienced medical personnel with some who have come back to Zambia from other countries where they were working.

Dr. SHUMBA told ZNBC News that some complex heart surgeries being done at the facility are saving the country a lot of money as some patients with cardiovascular conditions will no longer have to travel to other countries for specialist treatment.

He said the Hospital has so far done 15-open heart surgeries.

And KEBBY KYAKILIKA a Zambian Doctor who did an open heart surgery with the American Surgeons said he has learnt new skills which will contribute to the delivery of specialized health care in the country.
