Napsa Stars pen $70 000 Stanbic sponsorship deal, Club urged to be first

Super League side Napsa Stars this morning held a successful kit launch for the upcoming 2019/2020 Superleague season. The event was held at the Napsa Sports and Recreation Club in Lusaka.

At the same event, Stanbic Bank Zambia was unveiled as the new cosponsors of the Pensioners in a renewable six months sponsorship deal worth $70,000.

Stanbic Bank CEO Leina Gabaranne was present at the event and signed the contract on behalf of the Bank. In his speach, he challenged the club to fight to be the best in the country like Standbic Bank, Their new cosponsors.

“Stanbic is a part of a very large financial service organization, in fact, We are the largest in Africa and we have representation in 18 countries. Where we can we will shall participate and drive Sports development. We have been in Zambia for the last 60 years,” He said.

“We are the number one bank in Zambia, Mr Chairman I want you to keep that in mind because it will take you to where Napsa has to be, Number one position and not top four. Stanbic Bank number one and Napsa Stars number one, How does that sound ?” he added.

Napsa Stars Board Chairman Zingani Phiri

Napsa Stars Football club Chairman Zingani Phiri reiterated the teams’ commitment to promoting the sponsors brand by doing their best during the coming season.

Phiri went on to urge fans to go in numbers to the stadium to support the team once the season starts later this month.

“Am glad to state that Napsa Stars is one of the few clubs that are compliant with Club licensing requirements a feat we are very proud of. The Club has put in place open governance systems that promote transparency and accountability in the management of the team,” he said.

“As we unveil a new kit for the new season my appeal to all sport-loving Zambians is to buy the original replica jerseys that we are offloading on the market. To our fans we urge you to come in numbers and support the team,” he added.

“To our new partners Stanbic Zambia, Welcome on board you have made a wise choice to partner with one of the most renowned teams in Zambian football. We will work hard to promote your brand in the best way we can by making sure we perform to our best.”

NAPSA Director General Yollard Kachinda who was the guest of honour assured Stanbic Bank of tangible results from the partnership. He also reiterated the words of Stanbic CEO, Gabaranne urging the club to work hard and become the best in the country.

Kachina went on to ask the Napsa Stars board to put in place proper governance systems to make sure there is accountability for the monies coming from the sponsors.

Napsa Stars captain Dickson Chapa gave a vote of thanks to the sponsors for their continued support to the club both in good and bad times. Chapa assured the sponsors that the players are ready and committed to putting in their best when the season finally kicks off.

The jerseys unveiled include White, Yellow and Blue Jerseys and the replicas have been pegged at K400.

At the same event, the club announced the signing of four players. Striker Mambote Bathi Assis joins the Pensioners on a two-year permanent deal from Congolese top division side A.S Nyuki while Musonda Kapembwa completes his switch from Lumwana Radiants on a two-year permanent deal

Bornwell Mwape makes his switch from Nkana permanent after penning a two-year permanent deal with Isaac Simbuwa joining on a one-year loan deal from Green Eagles.
