Namibia coach upbeat on AFCON qualification

Namibian coach Riccardo Mannetti is confident that his team will make the Afcon qualification which is slated for Egypt later this year.

The brave warriors will be in action against the Chipolopolo boys tomorrow at Heroes stadium with kickoff at 18:30hrs.

Mannetti was speaking at a pre-match conference at the Heroes stadium that is team was in the country to make it to the afcon after missing out on the tournament since 2008 in Ghana.

Mannetti said that he didn’t think his team would be in the position to qualify when the qualifiers started with a loss to Guinea Bissau describing the match against the Chipolopolo boys as the biggest match.

“We didn’t think we would come this far and am just happy that we in this position, so this game means everything to me, to the players and the nation,” Mannetti said.

Namibian Captain Roland Ketjijere admitted that the team was not given chance to qualify when the groups were made. The captain said the team worked hard to find itself in a place to qualify to the Nations cup.

“in a group that we found ourselves,big footballing nations we worked hard as a small footballing nation,” Roland Ketjijere said.

Namibia are second in group K with 8 points level with Guinea Bissau who have a better goal difference, Mozambique are third and will need to win away in Guinea Bissau to make it to the afcon in Egypt.

Zambia are bottom with four points and can no longer qualify.
