NAMED LEADER CONDEMNED

By ZANIS:

The Patriotic Front  (PF) has expressed disappointment with a named opposition leader who is citing miners on the Copperbelt to cause confusion due to the looming job losses in the province.
PF Media Director Sunday Chanda wondered how the named opposition leader can pretend to sympathize with the miners when they are the same people who left a trail of misery on the Copperbelt after their involvement in the privatization of the mines.
Mr. Chanda alleged that the named party and its compatriots are the same people who recently betrayed Copperbelt mine workers by siding with foreign mine owners, when the mines made an announcement threatening 21,000 job losses as a result of the new tax regime.
He explained in a statement in Lusaka that Zambians from all walks of life have demanded that mines pay more and that stop the unfair payment by some mine owners.
He said contrary to these schemes, the PF affirms that government’s development package aims at restoring the Province’s lost glory.
Mr. Chanda further added that PF is also reversing the adverse effects of Zambia’s privatization process which has only benefited few individuals while subjecting many citizens to live in abject poverty.
Some mines have threaten to job cuts citing various reasons.
