By Etambuyu Katota-Government has mobilised 6 million dollars to improve water and Sanitation infrastructure in Nakonde District.
Water Development, Sanitation and Environmental Protection Minister Raphael Nakachinda says the contractor has been paid 3 point 8 million dollars and is already on site.
Mr. Nakachinda says he is happy with the progress being made in the purification of water in the District under the integrated small towns water supply and Sanitation project.
He was speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Chieftainess Waitwika of the Namwanga people of Nakonde.
Mr. Nakachinda assured the traditional leader that the 4 boreholes that are damaged will be worked on in the next few days.
And Chieftainess Waitwika has thanked President Edgar Lungu for ensuring the timely distribution of farming inputs.
The traditional leader has also called for unity among political players during the run-up to elections.
She said despite belonging to different political parties, politicians must remember they are Zambians first.
Chieftainess Waitwika said she will not allow any form of violence in her Chiefdom.
