My Body Isn’t for Jail, that’s Why I Faint When I’m Confined – Kambwili

I AM scared of being jailed because I am not a thief like them, so when they say they are going to lock me up, I faint, Chishimba Kambwili has said.

Addressing a rally in Mtendere to drum up support for the National Democratic Congress mayoral candidate Saboi Imboela on Saturday, Kambwili said his body was not used to being in jail, that’s why he fainted when he was confined at Woodlands Police Station and Lusaka Magistrates’ Court holding cells in March.

He explained that his body could adapt to different environments but not to jail because “I’m not a criminal” and each time confinement was mentioned, “my body gives up”.

“Mwamona bambi balenseka ati ba Kambwili bamwenso, baumfwafye ati kuya ku jele bafenta. Eeye nshili wamilandu ndatina jele, bena balibelela tabatina jele; kaili ni bakabolala.

Bushe umuntu utaletina jele kuti mwaeba ati mutuntulu? Umubili wandi tawabelela jele, walibelela uwine ukulala pabutanda, wasunda nobutanda nabulembeka waima but walya ubwali nomusalu walala…nomba ukuya kukomena umubili wandi ulakana nga bati kukukomena ni fenta man! (I was being laughed at that Kambwili is coward, when he heard that he is going to jail, he fainted…yes I am not a criminal so I was afraid of jail. They are not scared of jail because they are thieves; can you say a person who doesn’t fear jail is normal? My body is not used to being in jail. Yes, it’s used to suffering, sleeping on a reed mat where I could wet the bed and have the reed mat lines drawn on my body but eat nshima with vegetables and life goes on but when they say jail…it’s to faint man!),” Kambwili said to the cheering crowd.

He earlier told the residents that they were the cause for politicians’ stupidity and inability to fulfill campaign promises.

Kambwili asked the residents of Chawama why they kept voting for non-performing politicians each time they had a chance to vote them out.

“Lekeni mwebe ifyo ba politician twaba, tamwaishiba imwe. Ine nalipo mu government nalibapo namu opposition, nga mwavota, for instance abantu balailishanya ati amalaiti nayanina…amataba umutengo walichepa, amenshi takwaba…ba politician balatina; mumfwe sana, balatina ati abantu nabafulwa. Nomba nga kwaisa ama elections nomwenso elo bakwatisha sana ati yah, filya abantu bailishanya balatuchita ububi. Nomba nga mwabavotela, first Cabinet meeting kweba ati balitemwa abantu, we are doing very well. Mwebalenga untungulushi ukutumpa nimwe…pantu lilya mulechula, muleilishanya nomba ama elections nga yaisa, mwabavotela elo nga baya kuma office answer balanda yakutila abantu baliba happy so filya besa mukweba ati abantu tababa happy fyabufi pantu abafulwa nga natulusa ama elections. Echo mumwenene ba Lungu na PF na batumpa, not ukutumpa nga panono, ukustuopeta…pantu imwe bene mwebantu nimwe mulelenga batumpe pantu nga mwalila elo ama elections nga yaisa ati Sampa (Let me tell you how politicians are, I was in government and have been in opposition before. When you complain that electricity tariffs are high, the maize prices are low, you keep complaining over the unbearable standard of living, politicians get scared that they will be voted out but when it’s time to vote, you keep retaining them; they become stupid. When you keep voting for them, they go back to Cabinet and say the people are okay. Lungu and the PF have become stupid because you keep voting for them regardless of your suffering. You are the people that make politicians become this stupid),” he said.

Kambwili further said a father who attempts to give up his role to that of a last born of the family was a fool.

He explained that PF’s mayoral candidate Miles Sampa “is that fool who was a deputy minister, resigned to form his political party but relegated himself to the position of a senior counselor”.

Kambwili said Sampa had run away from the opposition because “there is hunger on the other side of the fence and he could not manage”.

Earlier, Kambwili sent the crowd into laughter when he asked God in prayer to prolong President Lungu’s life so that he could be dwelt with when he is President.

“Imbwili nga yaisa nkambila pali Lungu, akayafwila ku jele pakuti abantu bakasambilileko. Naleti namutamba nati mwe Lesa bushe uyu Lungu mwamufunishe kwisa ukutuletela umuntu waifi. We Lesa wewaikala ku mulu ndekupepa, Lungu ekafwa nshilaisa. Ndefwaya nkamusange nkese monana nankwe…Amen (When Imbwili comes into power, he (Lungu) will die in jail so that people can lean lessons about stealing public funds. I asked God where he got Lungu from and dump him on the Zambian people. My father in heaven, I am praying that Lungu does not die before I am President because I want to come and face him, Amen),” said Kambwili.
