Mwepu, Kangwa optimistic of Olympic qualification

Zambia U23 national team players are optimistic of qualifying to the Olympics and possibly emulate the famous class of 1988 led by Kalusha ‘ Great Kalu’ Bwalya .

Austria based midfielder Enock Mwepu who played a pivotal role in both home and away games against Malawi feels the road will be bumpy but the team has a good chance.

Mwepu also expressed happiness at the fact that the team managed to beat Malawi on Sunday which he feels has put pressure on the teams next opponent after seeing what they are capable of doing.

“It’s a positive result that has enlightened up alot of pressure to our next opponent, Otherwise, am happy that we won the game,” Mwepu told the ZamFoot crew in an exclusive interview.

“Yes, We(Bola Na Lesa) have a big chance of qualifying to the Afcon and later qualify to the Olympics..it won’t be easy but will do everything we can to qualify,” he added.

His team mate, Klings Kangwa described the feeling of progressing to the final round of qualifiers as great and believes the team will definitely qualify to Egypt.

“The feeling is great and I believe we are qualifying to the Egypt U23 AFCON tournament, ” Kangwa told the ZamFoot crew.

Zambia will face the winner between Burundi and Congo Brazzaville in the final round of qualifiers to the Egypt U23 AFCON tournament where the top three teams will qualify for the Tokyo 2020 Olympics.
