Mwepu available for Brighton’s final EPL match

Chipolopolo midfielder Enock Mwepu will be available this weekend for Brighton and Hove Albion who will finish off their Premier League campaign on Sunday with the visit of West Ham.

The Seagulls boss Graham Potter confirmed that the Zambia national team skipper will be in this weekend’s squad.

Mwepu will however most likely start from the bench and may come in the second stanza.

“Enock (Mwepu) will be in Sunday’s squad but probably won’t start. It’s a bit soon for Jeremy (Sarmiento) but he’s making good progress,” Potter said.

Mwepu sustained a groin injury in the Seagulls 3-0 win over Wolves a minute after the hour mark at Molineux Stadium on 30th April.

Brighton will host the Hammers at the American Express Community Stadium in their final game of the season looking to beat their record finish in the top-tier which is 13th – achieved in 1981/82.

The Seagulls will have to at least avoid defeat to surpass that, and there is the potential to finish as high as eighth or as low as 14th.

Zambia national team boss Aljosa Asanovic will be happy with this development as the Ivory Coast 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers are set to start next month.

The 2012 African Champions will start their campaign with an away fixture against the 2015 Champions, Ivory Coast on June 3rd.
