MWANAKATWE TELLS MEDIA TO IMAGE BUILD ZAMBIA

Minister of Finance Margaret Mwanakatwe has called on the media to be more responsible and build the image of the country.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe who is also PMRC Board Chair says Zambia has the potential to achieve greater things provided there is positive publicity.
She says being the fourth estate, the media remains a pivotal component of national development.
Mrs. Mwanakatwe said this in a speech read on her behalf by PMRC board member Chanda Mutale during the 2018 PMRC Media awards in Lusaka today.
And Minister of National Development Planning Alexander Chiteme said government has adopted an open-door policy for anyone in need of information relating to national development and research.
Mr. Chiteme said this in a speech read on his behalf by Permanent Secretary Mushuma Mulenga.
Meanwhile, Secretary to the Cabinet, Roland Msiska called for self-responsibility by media personnel on matters that concern the development of the country.
Dr. Msiska said the media has the powers to positively influence the mindset of people for the betterment of the country’s economic growth.
And, PMRC Executive Director Bernadette Deka thanked the media for its continued support in the dissemination of policy related information that has influenced the decisions of policy makers.
