Mundabile happy with government projects in Northern Province

Lusaka (06-08-18) Northern province Minister Brain Mundabile has not only outlined the projects which the Patriotic Front (PF) government has put motion to alleviate the sufferings of the people in his area but is also satisfied that the people in the area are benefiting from the government projects.

Hon Mundabile told journalists at the PF Interactive Forum held at Chrisma Hotel on Monday that the government has provided not only a democratic platform but also conducive environment for the activities to thrive.

According to Hon. Mundabile all the projects being actualised in Northern Province fall within the seven pillars provided for in the Seventh National Development Planned (7NDP).

He said the government has gone out of it’s way not only to renovate the existing structures but also to construct new learning institutions across the province and the surrounding areas.

To supplement his claim, Hon Mundabile cited the construction of the Robbert Makasa University in Chinsali.

“The construction of this first ever university in Northern province, some secondary schools, hospitals and trade institutions littered across the province remonstrates the government’s commitment to improving the living standards of people.”

He indicated that most of the institutions being constructed are near completion and will be commissioned soon.

Similarly Hon. Mundabile disclosed that in an effort to reduce inequalities in the area the government is also linking the province with communication towers and to the national power grid.

“The road network is also being build to the modern standard and connect the districts in the province together.

Further Hon Mundabile explained the government is improving the living standards of people through social cash transfer and the project of keeping children in schools being implemented in the area.

Furthermore Hon Mundabile suggested that Northern Province has comparative advantage in the areas of agriculture, tourism and culture, including mining.

He also suggested that, Northern Province is endowed with numerous mining activities.

He suspect the province has the potential of harbouring millions of precious stones.

For this reason, the government has engaged mineral explorers to ascertain the kind of minerals and the possibility of having the presence of oil in the province.

In order to support activities taking place in the areas of Agriculture, Tourism, and Culture Hon Mundabile explained, the government has intensified it’s efforts in improving the road infrastructure, hospitality industry and communication.

He said the approach being taken in addressing these activities is multi sectoral where all key ministries responsible for the activities move in to support the development.

Agriculture for example Hon. Mundabile explained is premised on out grower scheme where small scale farmers will be included in the initiative.

For Hon. Mundabile, the province is utilising the presence of Mpulunngu harbour to ensure development including job creation for the young people.

He indicated that the tourism is also on cards to improve the economic activities on the northern region.

“The province host a number of asserts, including the waterfalls that could be used to promote the tourism industry in the region.”

He added that these facilities will not only promote attraction but also provide the potential of providing energy.

The authority is also scouting for the people to provide hotel chains in the area that would enhance the tourism industry in the area.

Meanwhile, Hon Mundabile revealed that Northern province is also expected to host an expo to mark a hundred years after the end of the first world war.

He explained that the centenry cerebration which has gabbled a total of k15 million is scheduled to take place on 25th November 2018.

During this process, Hon Mundabile explained gun that were used during the first world war and other tools will be displayed for the people to see.

He said the event will attract millions of people from across the world to witness the celebration of the hundred years since the end of the world war.

He said the availability of these activities in the area entails not only reducing the poverty level but also a shift to industrialisation.

“These developments taking place in every district are aimed at promoting human development.”

In the end, all these will result in employment opportunity for the people in the area.
