‘MUKANDA’ DISEASE VICTIMS INCREASES

The number of boys from the Natebe Mukanda initiation Camp quarantined at Namatama health post for a disease not yet determined has risen from 38 to 51 while another four are at the Livingstone Central Hospital.
Livingstone Acting District Commissioner Harriet Kawina has told ZNBC News that the public should not despair as ministry of Health officials have the situation under control.
Ms. Kawina says of the 51 at the Namatama centre, 10 have been discharged but still quarantined at the facility.
She has further said those in examination classes are sitting for their papers within the center adding that no child will be denied the right to write exams.
Ms Kawina further said Ministry of Health officials have continued monitoring the Mukanda initiation camp and that the closure of the encampment will be determined in liaison with the Mukanda elders and ministry of health officials.
