GOVERNMENT has released K6, 540,000 for payment of farmers who supplied maize to the Food Reserve Agency (FRA) in Muchinga Province.
FRA provincial marketing coordinator Richard Chintu said Muchinga has received
K6, 540, 000 out of
K75, 116, 720 expected for payment of farmers in the province.
“A total of K6, 540, 000.00 was disbursed to pay farmers this week against a total bill of K75, 116, 720.00 leaving a balance of K68, 576, 720.00,
Mr Chintu said K1, 800,000 will go toward the payment of farmers in Isoka which had the highest number of farmers.
‘‘Out of the total amount of K6, 540, 000 received this week K1, 800, 000 will go toward payment of farmers in Isoka which has the total purchase of 284, 550 by 50 kg bags while K980, 000 will be paid to farmers in Mpika which has 163, 635 by 50 kilograms bags of white maize,” said
He said Chinsali, Nakonde and Shiwan’gundu will receive K930, 000, K1, 200, 000 and 490, 000 respectively.
Mr Chintu said FRA in Muchinga Province had so far purchased 1, 073, 096 by 50 Kilogram bags of white maize.
Mr Chintu said Isoka District FRA has purchased 284, 550 by 50 Kilogram bags of white maize while in Nakonde 187, 272 by 50 kilograms bags have been bought.
He said in Chinsali the agency has bought 182, 673 by 50 kg bags of white maize while Mafinga 93, 884 have been bought with Chama recording sales of 14, 199 bags.
