MUBUKWANU CHALLENGES BUSINESS HOUSES

By Lupindula Mwewa:North Western Province Minister Nathaniel Mubukwanu has challenged business houses in the region to tap into the readily available markets in the neighbouring Democratic Republic of Congo – DRC and Angola.Mr. Mubukwanu says the province produces a lot of agricultural products which can be easily sold to the neighbouring countries.He says farmers and business entities in the province need to be proactive and satisfy the growing market in the two countries.Speaking during the North Western Province Chamber of Commerce Awards Gala in Solwezi, Mr. Mubukwanu noted that government is doing everything possible to open the province to the neighbouring countries.He said the construction of the Kipushi-Mushindamo road which is in a deplorable state is one way of facilitating trade between Zambia and the DRC.The Minister further urged business houses to present strategic plans of how the province can conduct trade with Congo and Angola.And the North Western Province Chamber of Commerce Trade and Industry called on government to support small and medium entrepreneurs – SMEs.Chamber President Mukumbi Kafuta called on government to find ways of protecting SMEs as they are the backbone of the country’s economy.
