Motorist Advised Not To Travel East

Government has advised motorists traveling between Lusaka and Eastern Province to suspend their travels until the damaged portion at Kacholola is repaired.Disaster Management and Mitigation Unit- DMMU – National Coordinator Chanda Kabwe says this is in order to reduce congestion as the road is not passable to heavy duty vehicles such as as trucks and Buses.Mr. Kabwe says it will take about four days for a temporary bridge to be erected after heavy rains washed away culverts.He says engineers from the Zambia Army will be deployed today to start erecting Bailey Bridges which will arrive today.Mr Kabwe was speaking when he called on Eastern Province Permanent Secretary Buleti Nsemukila in Chipata this morning.The number of trucks marooned at Kachola has continued to rise.
