MONTHLY PAYMENT FOR INJURED WORKERS INCREASED

Government through the Workers Compensation Fund Control Board has increased the minimum monthly payment for injured workers from 150 Kwacha to 400 Kwacha.

Labour and Social Minister BRENDA TAMBATAMBA says this is meant to meet the expectation of injured workers and end destitution.

Mrs. TAMBATAMBA says the move is also meant to compensate for the increase in cost of living.

She says the Fund and government consulted widely before effecting the increase in terms of the levels of coverage and benefits to the beneficiaries.

Mrs. TAMBATAMBA says the government is determined to improve the lives of the workers by ensuring that pensions boards are working effectively.

She said this during a media briefing in Lusaka.

Meanwhile Mrs. TAMBATAMBA challenged Workers Compensation Fund Control Board to find other innovative ways of investing workers contributions.

She said the Boards should look for opportunities away from real estate.
