Mongu Cop Dies In Suicide Mission

A Police officer has shot himself dead with an AK47 rifle in unknown circumstances in Mongu district of Western province.

Ceasarton Samboko, aged 40, a sergeant under the Mobile Police Unit of Sianakanyinga village in chief Singani’s chiefdom of Choma district, died on the spot after shooting himself through the mouth at around 06:30 hours at AVIC Cooperation Bridge

Western Province Deputy Commissioner of Police, Michael Nkaka, has confirmed the incident to ZANIS in Mongu today, adding that the motive is not yet established.

Nkaka said Samboko was on national duty deployed to Mongu Police Mobile Unit from Kanfinsa on the Copperbelt province.

His body is lying in Lewanika General Hospital mortuary awaiting post mortem and burial.
