Missed chances and an assist for Patson Daka as Salzburg thrash Sturm Graz

The Chipolopolo star forward had a miserable night as he missed several chances in Redbull Salzburg’s 5-2 thrashing of Sturm Graz on Wednesday evening.

Daka started upfront alongside youngster Karim Adeyemi while Enock ‘Computer’ Mwepu dropped to the bench making way for Majid Ashmeru.

Despite Salzburg scoring five goals the 2017 CAF young player of the year only managed an assist after wasting several chances to increase his season goal tally. Salzburg scored their goals through Adeyemi who netted only his first Bundesliga goal, Jerome Onguéné, Dominik Szoboszlai, Sekou Koita, and Mergîm Berisha.

Daka’s chances of winning the Austrian Bundesliga golden boot seem to be diminishing as he is three goals adrift of Wolfsberger AC’s Israeli forward Shon Zalman Weissman who has a game this evening against Hartberg and can easily increase his tally.

Mwepu was given a rest by coach Jesse Marsch for this match and only watched from the bench.

Salzburg was also handed their Austrian Bundesliga Champions plate as this was their last home game of the season.

Salzburg will conclude their season with an away match against LASK Linz on Sunday.
