Misconception regarding GMO’s still high

The National Bio-Safety Authority says there is still some level of misconception regarding genetically modified Organisms (GMOs).

Authority Communications officer, Sandra Mulowa says following numerous sensitization campaigns they have been conducting, it has come to their attention that  due to lack of knowledge on GMOs some people have been spreading false information that some chicken on the market are genetically modified organisms.

Ms Mulowa says the authority is concerned because even the learned are ignorant with regards to GMOs, emphasizing the need for people to be educated on what GMOs.

Ms. Mulowa has stressed that at the moment, the country does not have any consignment of GMO products.
