MINISTRY OF FINANCE COMMENCES ALIGNMENT OF 2024 NATIONAL BUDGET

Finance Minister Situmbeko Musokotwane has disclosed that the Ministry of Finance has commenced the process of aligning the 2024 National Budget, following a directive from President Hakainde Hichilema.

Recently, President Hichilema urged the ministry to review the budget by reallocating resources from consumption expenditure to crucial areas such as food security, investment, and revenue generation, to respond to the current drought situation.

Dr. Musokotwane tells Phoenix News that the alignment process is currently underway and that a relevant committee of parliament will soon be involved in the process.

He explains that once the alignment is concluded, the budget will be presented to parliament for ratification, in adherence to the requirements outlined in the public finance act.
