Mining Insaka on the Cards

Government with the private sector will hold the Zambia Mining and Investment Insaka in Lusaka to mark 100 years of mining in the country.

And, Mines Permanent Secretary, HAPENGA KABETA has disclosed that 155 Gold mining cooperatives have been granted licences, while 117 Cooperatives have licences to exploit other mineral commodities.

Dr. KABETA says the government plans to set up marketing centers in key districts such as Mumbwa, Lusangazi, and Rufunsa to provide accessible markets for the miners.

Dr KABETA was speaking during a stakeholder Consultative Meeting in Lusaka today.

Meanwhile, Norwegian Church Aid Zambia Country Director JONATHAN LEA-HOWARTH praised the government for the critical minerals strategy.
