The Millers Association of Zambia –MAZ- says it foresees a reduction in mealie meal prices and a bumper harvest following the announcement by Agriculture Minister, Michael Katambo that the country has one million, thirty seven thousand seven hundred and seventy point seven metric tonnes of maize.

Andrew Chintala, the Millers Association of Zambia president explains to Phoenix News that the available maize stocks in the country is a true reflection of what the farmers have and that the country is assured of food security.

Mr. Chintala says the Association has been concerned with the high mealie meal prices hence the announcement will play role in stabilizing prices of the commodity.

Yesterday Agriculture Minister Michael Katambo announced that the country currently has a total of one million, thirty seven thousand seven hundred and seventy point seven metric tonnes of maize that will last 8 months and assured that the country is food secure.
