mbesuma-foundation-launched

By Ephraim Chiluba:

Ministry of Sports Permanent Secretary John Phiri has encouraged sports heroes to form Academies as a way of supplementing government efforts in sports development.

Speaking when he graced the Collins Mbesuma Foundation official launch of the Copperbelt youth football tournament, Phiri who was represented by Director Sports John Zulu said sport has been identified as a viable sector for youth empowerment.

He said this is why government and other stakeholders will continue to collaborate to ensure youths in football are supported.

Phiri added that Collins Mbesuma has contributed to the country’s football development as a player and has contributed to the visibility of the nation’s talent.

And Football Association of Zambia President Andrew Kamanga said academies are an integral part of sport that will see men and women excel beyond the country’s borders.

Kamanga also said the launching of the Collins Mbesuma Foundation gives the country confidence that football can be improved going forward.

Meanwhile, academy Chief Executive Officer Collins Mbesuma has called for early talent identification not just from Lusaka and the Copperbelt but all provinces.
