Mansa Woman Killed by Croc

06TH DECEMBER, 2018 – Police in Samfya district of Luapula Province received a report from Mary Banda aged 22 of Lupili area in Samfya that her friend identified as Precious Kaunda aged  18 of the same area was caught by a crocodile  at around 17:00 hours whilst  swimming on Lake Bangweulu.

A search for the deceased was conducted by officers from both Police and the department of National Parks and Wildlife and the crocodile was spotted at about 19:00 hours near Yachi Guest house, located on the shores of the lake and an alert officer from the Department of National Parks and Wildlife managed to shoot the crocodile in the head.

The officers retrieved the body of the victim and was found with a crushed left leg and deep cuts on the right thigh. The body has been deposited in Samfya Hospital mortuary.
