Mansa Mayor’s Wife Dies in Road Accident

LUSAKA, 20TH SEPTEMBER,  2018 – One person identified as Veronica  Chungu, aged 54 who is wife of His Worship the Mayor of Mansa , Emmanuel  Chungu has died while four  others including the driver sustained serious injuries in an accident which occurred today 20th September,  2018 at about 1300 hours at Kashikita village, Chief Chimese of  Mansa District on Mwense-Mansa road. She was pronounced dead upon arrival at Mansa General Hospital.

Involved was a motor vehicle Toyota Hilux registration number BAF 3360 which was being driven by Francis Kamalondo  aged 48  of Kalikeka village, Chief Kalasa.

The accident happened at Mushikita village when the driver of the motor vehicle which was moving from north to south along Mwense-Mansa road, lost control due to excessive speed, hence went off the road and overturned on the left side of the road. The vehicle rested 20 meters off the road in the bush.

The injured are Davies Kasongo aged 32, a Council Police Officer of Mansa, Cecilia Chungu aged 30,  Henrick Songeti aged 41 and the driver  Francis Kamalondo aged 48 sustained injuries and were all rushed to Mansa General Hospital.

The body of the deceased is in Mansa General Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem.
