Man cries as thieves steal K1m from car

Unknown people in Lusaka have stolen K1m after breaking into a car at East park Mall.

Police says the incident occurred on March 6, around 14:30 hours.

Deputy Police Public Relations Officer DANNY MWALE says initial investigations indicate that the passenger door was tempered with using unknown objects.

Mr. MWALE says when interrogated, the victim who works for Yatu Equity Business Company identified as KEN PHIRI said he withdrew the money from East Park Mall and secured it in the car.

He says the 30-year-old victim told police that the money was placed in a laptop bag on the passenger’s seat and only found that it had been stolen and door tampered with after he had walked into a Restaurant after securing the car.

Meanwhile unknown people yesterday stole a Mercedez Benz ML after the victim left the engine running with keys in the ignition and dashed into the house.

Mr. MWALE says brief facts are that the victim only identified as GLORIA of Libala residential area went to visit her relative in Kamwala South where she parked the vehicle just off the yard and went inside the house leaving the engine running.

Police say the victim reported that she took a few minutes and when she went back to her car, she saw it being driven away by a male person with a female in the front passenger’s seat.

Mr. MWALE adds that the 42 year old victim says she immediately called for a taxi that was nearby to give chase but they lost sight of the vehicle in Kabwata Site of her Grey Mercedez registration number ABR 5520 in Kabwata site and service.
