Malawian arrested in Livingstone with 17.85 kg of ephedrine

A MALAWIAN woman who concealed more than 17.85  kilogrames of ephedrine in 36 handbags has been arrested by Drug Enforcement Commission (DEC) in Livingstone.
DEC public relations officer Theresa Katongo said the 28-year-old woman identified as Shakira Kasusu was arrested upon arrival at the Harry Mwaanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone from India.
“The Commission in Southern Province has arrested a 28 year old female Malawian national, Shakira Kasusu, for trafficking in 17.85 kg of ephedrine concealed in 36 handbags. The suspect was arrested at the Harry Mwanga Nkumbula International Airport in Livingstone upon arrival from India. The suspect is in police custody and will appear in court soon.” She said.
