Water and Sewerage Company Managing Director George Ndongwe has been fired.
Ministry of Local Government and Housing Permanent secretary Amos Malupenga says the decision has been made due to Mr Ndongwes continuous failure to recognise the authority of the companys board.
Malupenga has also cited the unilateral decision by Ndongwe to renew the contract for the companys Director of Human Resource and his approval of disposal of company assets.
In a statement released to ZNBC News on Saturday, Malupenga announced that Zambia Bureau of Standards Managing Director Manuel Mwape will oversee affairs at Lusaka Water and Sewerage Company until a new managing Director is hired.
He has assured cooperating partners and stakeholders that the company will continue to operate smoothly during the transition period.
