Zesco United coach George Lwandamina says his team has done well so far and they are ready for the encounter against Young Africans of Tanzania this Saturday.

The Zambian Super League defending champions are in Tanzania for the CAF Champions League first leg encounter against Yanga.

“The team has done well so far, we have worked on our paces. The team is ready,” Lwandamina said.

Speaking to the press upon arrival on Thursday morning, the former Yanga coach said he will not depend on the past experiences he had at the Tanzanian club stressing that much has changed in the past 18 months since he left the club for a return to the Ndola based Super League giants.

“It is a new team and a new coaching bench. The philosophy am sure might have changed, we will just face them on the day of the game,” Lwandamina told reporters.

Lwandamina has carried an eighteen member injury-free squad for the first leg which includes former Yanga midfielder Thabani Kamusoko. The Zesco United coach also revealed that he has not watched any of the Yanga matches so far and stressed that he will depend on his club’s strengths to overcome the Tanzania giants.

Lwandamina who is former Yanga coach says he does not believe in the past as his former club has changed a lot including the technical bench and the philosophy stressing that he will rely on his team’s strength to overcome the Tanzanian side.

“I don’t believe in that, I can be deceived, I can watch and there have been coaches who have been watching games and they have lost,” said Lwandamina, “I believe in our strength, that’s all. We will go with our strength on the pitch,” he concluded.

Zesco United will play Yanga in the first leg of the CAF Champions League First Round match in Dar Es Salaam on Saturday which is scheduled to be played at the National Stadium.

The Zambian champions eliminated Green Mamba 3-0 on aggregate in the preliminary round, while the Citizens Team Yanga rolled over Botswana’s Township Rollers via a 2-1 aggregate score. The second leg will be played on 27th September 2019 at Ndola’s Levy Mwanawasa Stadium.
