Zesco United coach George Lwandamina and captain Jacob Banda have called on fans to rally behind the team as they face Asante Kotoko on Sunday evening in a CAF Confederation encounter slated for Levy Mwanawasa Stadium at 18:00hrs.

Zesco United have already been eliminated from the competition and are going through theit worst patch since 2006 as they have failed to win any if their last seven games.

” When we were growing up there were these people we used to call Kamutanda ( Pole Climbers) and me and my freinds wanted to know how he used to climb the pole so one day we organised some money so that he could climb the poll. The Kamutanda used to climb while people clapped so I told my friends that we will stop clapping at a certain point and when we stopped clapping and cheering for him he started struggling until he came down from the poll,” He said

“We need supporters to hold this team. Yes they will insult when they are not happy but we need them to hold this pole (Zesco United ) for Zesco United to climb up,” he added.

Captain of the side Jacob Banda echoed the gaffers words and reminded the Zesco faithfuls that the team was still the same ones they have been supporting since day one and nothing had changed.

“The fans are worried yes because of this bad phase. They need to support us and encourage us because this is the same Zesco United they have been supporting all along,” he said.
