LUSAKA WATER TO SPEND $18M ON CHAZANGA WATER PROJECT

By Lucky Phiri-Lusaka Water Supply and Sanitation Company will spend over 18 million Kwacha on the Chazanga Water Supply Improvement Project, whose works will start this week.

The project, which will benefit over 18 thousand people, involves the installation of a commercial water tank and a new water supply pipeline, as well as the installation of 30-prepaid communal dispensers.

And Company Managing Director, Jonathan Kampata says the project is being funded by the Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor.

Speaking when he inspected the project equipment and site in Chazanga compound, Mr Kampata has implored residents to guard the water infrastructure against vandalism.

And Lusaka Deputy Mayor, Christopher Shakafuswa has praised water utility company for bringing water and sanitation services to the people.

Mr Shakafuswa who is also area Councillor, said the water project has come at a right time, when water is needed in the area to help in the fight against COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Water and Sanitation for Urban Poor Country Programme Manager, Reuben Sipuma has pleaded with the residents to help the water utility firm by paying their water bills, once they are connected to the network.
