Lusaka Still Experiencing Road Traffic Congestion

By Masauso Mkwayaya

Over 500 kilometers of roads have been constructed in Lusaka in the recent past with the aim of decongesting the City.

However, the City is still experiencing traffic congestion especially during peak hours in the morning , late afternoon and evenings.

Road Transport and Safety Agency Public Relations Manager, MUKELA MANGOLWA says Lusaka experiences congestion on roads because the population of vehicles in the country does not tally with the rate at which roads are being constructed.

And Road Development Agency (RDA) Acting Communications Director, ANTHONY MULOWA says the agency is struggling to expand some roads in the City due to encroachments on road reserves.

According to records at RTSA, Zambia has a vehicle population of more one million of which more than 500-thousand are in Lusaka.
