Lusaka D1: Msisi Academy beat Young Zanaco to go top as Airport Warriors suffer first defeat

The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Lusaka Province Division One entered week 15 with eight mouth-watering encounters as one game between Vector and Athletico Lusaka game postponed.

An 88th minute Gabriel Banda goal was enough to send Msisi Youth Soccer Academy to the top of the table in the Lusaka Province league. This was after beating Young Zanaco 1-0 in a week 15 rescheduled fixture played at Zamsure sports complex on Tuesday 23rd, February 2021. A win for Misisi sees them go top of the table with 15 points and remains the team with the best defense after recording 7 games without conceding a goal.

Young Zanaco had an opportunity to go ahead 1-0 when they scored a goal in the middle of the second half, unfortunately, it was eventually ruled out for offside. A defeat for Young Zanaco sees them drop into the relegation zone occupying position number 17 with only 2 points.

Kabwata Dynamos’ one-all draw at home against Lusaka City Council was enough to help them make a slight movement out of the relegation zone.

Mengo Simukonda’s goal for Kabwata Dynamos gave them confidence and some hopes of recording a first win of the season. Dynamos however failed to extend the lead or defend their important goal when they allowed Lusaka City Council to come back with an equalizer through Dada Banda and maintain their 7 games unbeaten run.

It was done and dusted, the unbeaten run and 100% away games record came to an end on Saturday for Airport Warriors. Lusaka Girls Secondary School was the venue where they recorded their first defeat of the season when they were beaten 2-1 by Sable Bulls and surrendered their top leadership on the Lusaka Province table.

Romeki and Shamuel Academy played out to a one-all draw. Richard Kasonde scored for Shamuel Academy while Thomas Zulu scored for Romeki.

Happy Hearts’ poor home ground continues, this time around it was a 1-0 home loss to Young Napsa Stars. A win for Napsa sends them to the 9th spot on the table while a defeat for Happy Hearts makes a big setback for them as they are now seating on number 13 with 6 points.

Paramilitary recorded their first win after registering a 3-1 home win over Irwin Rangers who have recorded 2 consecutive match defeats. Thanks to the goals from Richard Mulumbwa, Simunji Mulunda, and Allan Bwalya.

Michael Musonda’s brace was enough for Young Green Buffaloes to frustrate the home side Chainda Bombers to a 2 all draw. Chainda took the lead in the 40th minute through Besum Banda. In the second half, Young Buffaloes could not give up until Michael Musonda came to the rescue and canceled out Besum’s goal. The Bombers came back to take the lead through Potipher Soko’s goal that could not last until the final whistle as Michael Musonda again canceled it out and extended his goal-scoring tally to 6 in 7 games.

Riflemen FC’s Mike Bulaya and Owester Mwakatambala goals were enough to have something to celebrate with a 2-0 win over Chongwe United. This was the first time Riflemen are walking away with the maximum 3 points in the game. A win was enough to help them move to position number 12 on the table.

Chongwe United remains in position 15 with 5 points whose fans need urgent answers as to why the team has continued dropping points in the recent games.
