The LUSAKA High Court has convicted JAMES BWALYA and MATHEWS SIKAONGA for abducting 13 female victims between March and October 2022.

LUSAKA High Court Judge CHARLES KAFUNDA has set June 22 for judgment in the matter.

Judge KAFUNDA convicted the two after the conclusion of the presentation of facts of the charges leveled against the abductors and forensic reports of the victims.

The state submitted that the abductors gruesomely raped, tortured and assaulted their victims between March and October, 2022 and forcibly subjected them to family planning pills.

The state further submitted that the abductors were involved in extortion as they harassed some of the victims to call their relatives to send them money, pretending that they needed school requisites.

BWALYA and SIKAONGA are charged with 54 counts of aggravated assault with intent to steal, abduction, and rape.

The two pleaded guilty to the charges on June 5, 2022.
