Lungu’s filing in jams Lusaka traffic
President Edgar Lungu and his running mate Inonge Wina have successfully filed in nominations for the August 11 elections.
Hundreds of Lusaka residents were ferried to Mulungushi conference centre to see the ruling party’s candidate file in.
President Lungu filed in his nomination Thursday morning, June 2, 2016.
And Lungu’s filing in brought jammed traffic in Lusaka as many roads were closed.
Lungu arrived at Mulungushi International Conference Centre around 09:40 hrs accompanied by PF Secretary General Davies Chama, senior government and party officials. He went straight before the commissioner of oaths to swear and affirm that his credentials alongside that of the running mate are bona fide. After successfully swearing, the President and his running mate moved to the Electoral Commission of Zambia Commissioners’ table were he presented his Credentials before the Returning Officer Hon Justice Esau Chulu. The returning officer received credentials from Lungu and Wina and asked for some minutes so that he can verify their authenticity.
After a close to 20 minutes the Retuning officer came back and validated Edgar Lungu and Inonge Wina as Presidential Candidate and Presidential Running mate respectively. Justice Chulu congratulated Lungu and he proceeded to greet some senior officials in nominations room.
