Newly elected Nkoloma ward councillor and  President Edgar Lungu’s daughter Tasila Lungu has ignored her party’s position on fielding in Christopher Shakafuswa as Lusaka Deputy Mayor and instead declared her intentions to stand for the position.

The ruling Patriotic Front in Lusaka earlier gave instructions to all councillors  to support the candidature of Christopher Shakafuswa of Mpulungu Ward 23 who has expressed interest earlier.

Tasila whose election was marred with questions like how authentic are her qualifications as she has stayed away from Zambia most of her lifetime was elected as Nkoloma Ward Councillor in Chawama Constituency in the just ended 2016 election said she is now ready to serve the greater city of Lusaka as Deputy Mayor.

In her statement to announce her intention she said it is only fair that she becomes Deputy Mayor of Lusaka especially that the city has a male Executive Mayor.

Tasila is however expected to face stiff competition from long serving councillor Christopher Shakafuswa of Mpulungu Ward 23 who has also expressed interest in the post.

PF in Lusaka Province has already issued instructions to all the 32 Councillors to support Shakafuswa’s candidature.
