FB_IMG_1467747357949President Edgar Lungu on Tuesday held bilateral talks with his Ugandan Counterpart Yoweri Museveni. The meeting took place at State House in Entebbe today.

And speaking after the meeting, Zambia’s Foreign Affairs Minister Harry Kalaba told Journalists that the bilateral talks were fruitful.

Kalaba disclosed that the meeting among other issues discussed the pipeline, as Uganda is in the process of producing oil and Zambia wants to take advantage of that country’s oil production.

He said the Pipeline will run all the way from Uganda to Ndola, a move he noted will reduce the cost of doing business.

On other issues discussed, the Minister disclosed the possibility of Zambia becoming an observer on the Northern corridor which comprises Uganda, Kenya and Rwanda, which have come together to have non tax barriers.

He said these countries have come together and are able to trade effectively hence Zambia has been invited to be part of the programme. Kalaba said Zambia anticipates a very productive future with Uganda given the fact that there is more that is bringing the two countries together than dividing them.

He said the meeting also discussed the issue of opening up missions in their respective countries by next year in order to further enhance bilateral ties that already exist between Zambia and Uganda.

Kalaba said the Zambian government is grateful that President Lungu was among those invited to attend the summit in Uganda.

The Minister said he is hopeful that the relationship with these countries is blossoming as a result of the talks that the two countries have been engaging in.

Kalaba said it was a very productive visit because Zambia is being recognised regionally and internationally, a development which is good for diplomacy.

President Lungu has since returned home.
