The ruling Patriotic Front (PF) says it’s presidential candidate Edgar Lungu has already won this election.

Speaking on Zambia Decides programme on Muvi Television Monday evening, PF Deputy Elections Chairperson Kelvin Fube Bwalya said the elections in August will be just a formality.

Bwalya who spoke confidently said President Lungu is unbeatable. He said numbers do not cheat claiming the PF is still commanding support in Lusaka, Copperbelt and northern part of the country.

He said the PF has over 75 percent of support in Lusaka, Copperbelt, Eastern and Northern provinces. He claimed that Western province had changed and was now PF after the adopting of Inonge Wina as running mate.

Bwalya claimed that currently the PF was not doing well in Southern province and put the party at 25, 30 percent. He said the party was working to increase the support base in the province.

He dismissed former Acting president Guy Scott’s observation that the country was divided into half where the PF controlled the North East and UPND South East. He said three third of the country is green (PF) while one third was red (UPND).

Bwalya disclosed that the PF was using a chitemene tactic where women and youths have been recruited to go round and encourage to vote. He said the PF would not want a repeat of 2015 elections where there was voter apathy in the PF stronghold.

“Our message is, let us all go and vote once, we don’t want to vote twice,” Bwalya said.

He said voting twice will be costly and time consuming for the country. He said President Lungu whom he said had carried on the version of PF founder Micheal Sata had performed well.

The PF Elections Chairperson explained that the infrastructure development embarked by the PF had opened up the country for investment. He added that it is now easy and cheaper for Zambians to move due to good road network.
